Portrait in Hanes - 4
Portrait in Hanes 4
Oil on Canvas
60" x 42"
2011

This painting concludes the "Portrait in Hanes" series, while revisiting past themes in my work. I consider the sculptural bull head to be a representative self portrait, neither metaphorical nor surrealist.

The original, monolithic sculpture is of Persian origin, having once guarded the Hundred-Column Hall in Persepolis. It can currently be found at the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago.
